The Old School House

This historic school house conversion in north Yorkshire looks out on to a beautifully complex garden. The hard landscaping in the lower 3/4 of which are a maze of narrow path winding through large herbaceous raised borders. This project focused on these borders, trying to create a nostalgic sense of the Yorkshire countryside within this amazing garden, with an emphasis on movement and growth. To achieve this we have used a very naturalist style focusing on a variety of forms, cool colours and injections of heat here and there. The existing structural planting divide the garden into various sections, designing different views through this planting creates a sense of interest and curiosity. Planting in this way we encourage exploration, whether that means the different sections of the garden or the various elements of the planting.
