Tool Policy

Policy Brief

Our Tool policy outlines our expectations regarding employees’ responsibilities when in possession of or responsible for company property.

Scope

This policy applies to all our employees regardless of employment agreement or rank.

Policy elements

In this section the components of the Tool Policy will be outlined.

GardenWild Tools

All tools provided by GardenWild Ltd remain the property of GardenWild Ltd. Tools will be provided to you and are your responsibility as long as you have them.

Checklist

Whoever is picking up the van or delivering tools to site must complete the tool checklist for the specific job scheduled for that day. The checklist consists of all the tools you should need for any given day. It will be your responsibility to make sure we have all the tools for the day ahead, failure to do so might result in the inability to complete the work proposed.

Before leaving the site all the tools must be checked back into the van. Whoever is delivering the tools back must complete the checklist and it is their responsibility if a tool is missing.

Each employee will be given a bag with all the hand tools they should need in it. These bags/tools are the responsibility of each individual employee and if they go missing or are lost that employee may be asked to replace them. The responsibility of an employees’ hand tools still lies with that  employee even if a tool is lent. For example if you lend your tools to a co-worker and they leave them at the job it is still your responsibility (not the co- workers) for the lost tool.

Loss and/or damage

Any loss or damage of any tools should be reported immediately to either Liz or Tom. Failure to do so could result in you getting blamed for a tool you didn’t lose. In addition, attempts to conceal a missing tool will be treated as theft. We understand that tools sometimes go missing and/or get damaged, not coming and telling us about it gives no opportunity to fix the problem.
